Socks Made for a Purpose. … Every pair of Humphrey Law socks is made for a purpose (Dress, Casual, Work, Sport, Specialty, for Warmth or Cool). Using the maximum amount of the finest Australian Merino Wool, and the minimum amount of petroleum-based poly fibers necessary to fit the purpose, each sock is expertly knit, linked, dyed, pre-shrunk and inspected to fit their purpose, and fit your feet for maximum comfort and wear life.
What Makes This Sock Special? This soft, smooth fitting, Work Sock is made for what is likely the most demanding job of all, protecting the feet which are protected by cap toe boots. This is how Humphrey Law puts your feet first:
- Impact Padding at Pressure Points – The entire Toe Cap (top, front & bottom) and Heel are enclosed in extra Merino Wool cushioning at pressure points, and at all points around that uncompromising cap in your shoe.
- Non-Slip Ribbing – Slip-free ribbing is added around the arch to prevent your sock from shifting in your shoe, helping prevent blisters.
- Non-Slip Leg – Non-slip ribbing is also added around the upper ankle and calf to prevent abrasive shifting.
- No Tight Tops – Humphrey Law employs their proprietary graduated knitting technique to make the Feet first sock with no tight tops, to help promote proper circulation for healthy feet.
Humphrey Law truly is the sock specialist. Humphrey Law makes socks for purpose, on purpose, with a level of engineering and a commitment to excellence second to none.

Excellence from Farm to Feet … Since its founding in 1947, Family-owned Humphrey Law® has done one thing, and one thing alone: make great socks, at a great value, that keep you and your feet feeling great. Humphrey Law still operates in the same factory where it all began more than 75 years ago. In the beginning, the sheep were in the pastures behind the factory. As Melbourne (Australia) and the factory grew, the flocks were moved to New South Wales, and still serve as a source for the pure Australian Merino Wool from which these amazing socks are made.
Natural, Renewable, Sustainable … The primary fibers from which your Humphrey Law socks are made are natural, renewable, and sustainable materials (Australian Merino Wool, Alpaca, Cotton, Bamboo). Humphrey Law typically uses more natural fibers in making your socks than other manufacturers, and less petroleum-based poly fibers. The Humphrey Law Family genuinely cares about your feet, and the Earth upon which they tread. Long before it became fashionable, Humphrey Law began investing in innovative technologies and processes to conserve natural resources and energy, while reducing waste … and responsibly make great socks at a great value.
Every Other Sock is Solar Powered … Most recently, under the Leadership of Rob Law and Elizabeth (Law) Challenger, Humphrey Law has installed solar panels entirely covering the roof of the factory. Today, they generate 50% of all the electricity they use. Yes, you can proudly proclaim that your Left foot (or Right) is solar powered.
Ethical Clothing Australia … Humphrey Law’s commitment to the environment does not stop at the front door. The Leadership is equally committed to their people and work environment. A commitment which has earned them full accreditation from Ethical Clothing Australia. The Phillips Family of Cape Woolamai Mercantile has had the pleasure of touring the Humphrey Law Factory and meeting the Team on several occasions. On of the reasons Humphrey Law socks are so great is that they are a reflection of the people who make them. We are proud to represent both.
