The Partnership of Engineering & Hospitality ... Many of Life’s greatest experiences are best enjoyed sharing a glass (or two) of wine with Friends & Family. Few things dampen the mood as quickly as a wine glass toppling over and pouring out on the ground or the carpet. You don’t have to come from the Hospitality world as Lee Drury does to understand this. And it helps to have the creative minds of Lee and her partner, Industrial Engineer Stephen Flewellen, if you wish to do something about it. Partners in business and in Life, Lee & Stephen are the co-creators of Glass on the Grass, the Aus-some spill-free wine coasters.
How Do They Work? ... Ingeniously engineered, simply slide the stem of your glass under the fingers and over the logo tab to secure your glass to your coaster. Your Glass on the Grass coaster widens the base of the glass, lowering the center of gravity, to make your glass resistant to toppling. Set your glass down on uneven ground, the beach, that wobbly picnic table, Adirondack chair, end table, coffee table or countertop, with confidence that it will sit stable, and not be easily toppled over.
- This is not achieved by weights. Each Glass on the Grass coaster weighs a mere 1.3 oz
- This is not achieved by suction or adhesives which can make picking up and placing your glass difficult, as well as leave rings everywhere your glass goes.
- The magic is found in the blend of physics, ingenious engineering and quality materials.
Will They Fit My Glass? ... Most likely. Designed with a range of stemware in mind, the fingers of your Glass on the Grass coaster are designed so as to be able to hold stems up to approximately ¾” as they taper to the base. This covers a wide variety of wine glasses, champagne flutes, brandy snifters and other specialty glasses.
Glassware, Plastic, or Both? ... Both. The type of stemware you drink from is a personal preference. Your Glass on the Grass coasters will secure both equally well. Plastic is recommended for beach and boat for other safety reasons.
How Do I Slip One on My Glass? ... Using these Aus-some spill-free wine coasters is as simple as:
- 1. Place your thumb on the logo, put two fingers under the “fingers” of the coaster and lift gently to create space.
- 2. With your other hand, slide an empty wine glass under the fingers until the stem meets the U shape.
- 3. Ensure your glass is sitting flat on all four surfaces of the coaster. Pour and Enjoy!
- 4. When you’re finished, slide it off, give it a rinse, ready for your next glass. And Yes, your coasters are dishwasher safe.
Will These Prevent Every Spill? ... Sadly, No. If you give your drink a hard knock, or set it on an unbalanced surface, even these great coasters cannot save you from those spills. But your Glass on the Grass coasters will save you from those most common spills caused by setting a drink down on an uneven surface, wobbly surface, bumped table, or that gentle knock that will topple an ordinary glass.
Glass on the Grass vs. Glass on the Boat? ... Glass on the Boat and the original Glass on the Grass are made using the same engineering design and quality materials. They will each prevent spills from your glass being knocked or tipped to an extreme. The difference between the two sets is that Stephen & Lee have added a skid-free silicone rim to the base of Glass on the Boat to keep the coasters from sliding on a smooth surface like the deck of a boat. This silicone rim is removable and washable. When removed, the coasters are identical to Glass on the Grass.
